Gellius Maximus : ウィキペディア英語版
Gellius Maximus

Gellius Maximus (died 219) was a Roman usurper against Emperor Elagabalus.
Gellius Maximus was the son of a physician and a member of the senate.〔For further information on his father see Vivian Nutton, ''L. Gellius Maximus, Physician and Procurator'', in: ''The Classical Quarterly'', New Series, Vol. 21, No. 1 (1971), pp. 262–272.〕 He served as an officer in Legio IV ''Scythica'' in Syria and took advantage of the turmoil during the reign of Elagabalus to proclaim himself emperor. The rebellion was soon extinguished, and Gellius Maximus was executed.〔The main source for Gellius Maximus’ uprising is Cassius Dio, 80, 7. See also (Phoebe Peacock, ''Usurpers under Elagabalus'', ''De Imperatoribus Romanis'' ).〕
